An early Damon Tuscany with a Caterpillar diesel and a later Thor Tuscany with a Cummins ISL belong in different comparisons. To work out what your Thor Tuscany is worth, start by identifying that exact coach—not just the Tuscany badge. A 45BX with bunks and two full bathrooms also serves a different buyer than a 45AT with a desk and Euro recliner.
The Tuscany is a discontinued Class A diesel pusher, introduced in 2005 with documented model years through at least 2023. Its exact final production year is unconfirmed. This guide explains the comparisons; it does not replace an appraisal.
What is your Thor Tuscany worth in a book guide?
A guide estimate helps establish a comparison for your particular Tuscany, but it cannot settle the purchase price of an unseen coach. Open the J.D. Power RV lookup, select the year and precise model designation, and check which equipment the entry includes.
A Thor Tuscany blue book value can differ from a cash offer because a guide entry cannot inspect your roof, test the Aqua-Hot or review a slideout repair. Original suggested pricing is another category entirely: it describes new-coach pricing, not today's used-sale result.
A buyer must weigh the actual coach's condition and expected repair work. For the broader distinction between guide estimates and sale options, see how RV worth is estimated. Other model guides belong in our RV values directory, not in a Tuscany comparison unless the specifications genuinely match.
Which Thor Tuscany model years and eras matter?
The useful Tuscany eras are the early Damon lineup, the 2010 branding transition, the documented 2016 lineup and the later layouts. These checkpoints help identify equipment; they do not establish a complete redesign schedule.
| Years | What changed |
|---|---|
| 2005–2006 | Introduced in 2005. The 2006 Damon lineup included 3974, 4074, 4075 and 4077, with two to four slides, a 350-hp Caterpillar diesel and a Freightliner raised-rail chassis. |
| 2010 | Damon and Four Winds International merged to form Thor Motor Coach. The builder name changed; this date alone does not identify a chassis or body redesign. |
| 2016 | The 40DX, 42GX, 44MT and 45AT used a Freightliner XC-R chassis, 450-hp Cummins ISL and Allison MH-3000 transmission. The brochure specifies a fiberglass roof and residential equipment. |
| 2022–2023 | The 45BX arrived for 2022 with bunks and two full bathrooms. Documented 2023 layouts include 40RT, 45BX and 45MX. Tuscany is now discontinued. |
Read the title and VIN plate for identification, then use the corresponding year's brochure to confirm the floor plan. Keep chassis labels and equipment records handy. Early Damon branding belongs to this model's history; our Thor Motor Coach brand page covers the broader brand.

How does a Tuscany floor plan change buyer interest?
A Tuscany layout changes who can use the coach comfortably, so compare matching floor plan codes before comparing prices. Sleeping capacity, bathroom access and living-room furniture all matter.
The 2006 3974 measures 39 feet 6 inches and has three slides and dual vanities. The 4074 measures 40 feet 8 inches, with four slides, a large living area and a king bed. The 4077 offers two slides, an entertainment center and extra wardrobe space.
For 2016, the 41-foot-1-inch 40DX combines theater seating, a sofa air bed, buffet dinette and stackable laundry. The 44-foot-10-inch 45AT instead includes a desk, Euro recliner, expanding L-shaped sofa and fireplace.
The 2022 45BX is also 44 feet 10 inches long. Its bunks, cockpit drop-down bunk and two full bathrooms can appeal to family travelers. A couple wanting workspace may prefer the 45AT; neither layout automatically earns a higher offer.
Which chassis and drivetrain details belong in the comparison?
Use the Tuscany's installed drivetrain and chassis ratings, rather than assuming all years share the later Cummins specification. The 2006 coach used a 350-hp Caterpillar, Freightliner raised-rail chassis and Allison MH-3000 six-speed, with air suspension, full air brakes and an exhaust brake.
The 2016 lineup paired the 450-hp, 8.9-liter Cummins ISL with an Allison MH-3000 and Freightliner XC-R chassis with Atlas Foundation. It also had ZF independent front suspension. Those features distinguish it from the early coaches, but their condition and service history still matter.
Hitch ratings differ within that 2016 lineup: the 40DX has a 10,000-pound hitch; the 42GX, 44MT and 45AT have 15,000-pound hitches. The larger three also have a two-stage Jacobs brake rather than the 40DX's exhaust brake. Photograph the actual weight and chassis labels; a brochure hitch rating alone does not establish how much your loaded coach can safely tow.
What raises or lowers a Thor Tuscany cash offer?
A Tuscany with working residential systems, sound surfaces and traceable maintenance is easier to assess than one with untested equipment or unresolved damage. Mileage matters alongside engine hours, generator hours and the work recorded on each system.
Details that support value:
- Records identifying the chassis, diesel engine, floor plan and main Tuscany or XTE designation.
- Service history and demonstrated operation of fitted Aqua-Hot, generator, cooling, laundry and kitchen equipment.
- Well-kept full-body paint, roof surfaces, slide components and interior floors.
- Repair invoices and VIN-specific proof that applicable recalls were completed.
Details that can reduce value:
- Water entry, soft floors, damaged finishes or slideouts that do not operate correctly.
- Failed or untested luxury equipment that leaves repair costs uncertain.
- Unresolved safety campaigns affecting the particular VIN.
- Poorly documented repairs or mismatched identification details.
Owners have reported finishing concerns on an individual 2014 Tuscany 40EX, including tile work, clear-coat flaws and misaligned openings. Separately, a 2015 Tuscany XTE 40EX owner reported slide failures, ceiling-fabric damage and failed electric/fireplace heat. These reports justify checking those areas, not treating every Tuscany as defective.
Which Tuscany recalls should you check before selling?
Check your Tuscany's VIN at NHTSA's recall search, because model-year lists do not tell you whether your particular coach is affected or repaired. Relevant campaigns include:
- 18V285000: Certain 2011–2017 coaches had a power-steering hose routed near a starter power stud, creating an arcing, leak and fire risk. The remedy reroutes the hose.
- 16V834000: Certain 2014–2016 Tuscany layouts could admit water into the keyless-entry module, creating an electrical short and fire risk. Dealers seal around the module.
- 16V469000: Certain 2014–2016 coaches had a throttle-pedal sensor issue that could prevent engine-brake activation. The remedy replaces the pedal.
- 17V555000: Certain 2014–2016 Tuscany and Tuscany XTE coaches had improperly installed or secured wipers. Earlier wiper repairs may not satisfy this campaign.
- 20V418000: Certain 2017–2020 coaches had an affected rear power distribution module that could disable rear lights. Replacement, rather than an earlier inspection alone, may be required.
- 20V559000: Certain 2018–2021 coaches had inner-wheel valve extensions vulnerable to contact damage and tire-pressure loss.
Save repair orders that identify your coach and explain the completed remedy. Ask the servicing dealer to clarify any older inspection-only or repeat-campaign paperwork.
How does Gulf Coast storage affect a Tuscany inspection?
Houston heat and humidity make water-entry checks and cooling tests especially useful on a Tuscany. Construction differs by era: the 2006 brochure specifies a one-piece TPO roof, while the 2016 brochure specifies a one-piece fiberglass roof cap.
Both documented constructions include moisture-sensitive wood materials despite aluminum framing. Examine roof penetrations, wall openings, slide areas and floors for staining, swelling or prior repairs. The keyless-entry recall identifies one specific water-entry concern on affected coaches; it is not evidence of leaks in every Tuscany.
Test cooling rather than relying on an equipment list. The 2016 specification includes three 15,000-BTU air conditioners with heat pumps, but earlier models should not be assumed to match. Photos of covered storage, seal maintenance and dry compartments add useful context; corrosion-resistant materials do not make a coach immune to coastal exposure.
What details help us price your specific Tuscany?
Send enough identification and condition information for Lisa RV Buyers to distinguish your Tuscany from similar-looking coaches. For an initial offer, text 936-234-4278 with:
- Model year, floor plan code and VIN.
- Odometer mileage, generator hours and engine hours if available.
- Exterior views, roof photos, floor photos and pictures of any damage.
- Equipment details, maintenance records and recall-repair paperwork.
An offer costs nothing and leaves you free to decline. Photos and your description support the preliminary amount; seeing the coach allows us to confirm the figure, with no unexpected change if the condition was accurately described.
We buy older Tuscany coaches of any year, including units needing repairs or with nonrunning engines; severe damage can substantially reduce an offer. Our diesel pusher buying page explains that RV category, and the offer request page lists contact details. We travel to the coach and coordinate pickup throughout Greater Houston, including Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend, Brazoria and Galveston counties.
Thor Tuscany value: owner questions
Did Damon closing mean Thor stopped supporting an active company?
Damon Motor Coach and Four Winds International merged in 2010 to create Thor Motor Coach. That was a builder transition, not the closure of today's Thor Motor Coach, which remains an operating THOR Industries company. The Tuscany itself is discontinued, but an early Damon Tuscany still belongs to the same model line described in this guide.
Can I compare my Tuscany XTE with a main-line Tuscany?
Treat Tuscany XTE as a separately identified subline, not an interchangeable pricing match. Start with the designation on your coach's paperwork and compare the exact year and floor plan. Main-line Tuscany chassis, weight, roof and equipment specifications should not automatically be assigned to an XTE. The separate designation also matters when reviewing recall applicability.
Does low mileage make a Tuscany more valuable automatically?
Low odometer mileage is useful information, but it does not prove that a Tuscany's roof, slides, generator or residential equipment are in good shape. Engine and generator hours add context, as do maintenance and storage records. A buyer still needs to inspect the coach and test its systems before deciding how much the mileage contributes to an offer.
Should I use the original Tuscany sticker price as my asking price?
Original suggested pricing describes the coach when new, not its present resale worth. It can help identify how a particular Tuscany was positioned, but it does not account for today's condition, accumulated use or needed repairs. Use a matching used-model guide entry as a comparison, then obtain an offer based on the actual coach.
Can I sell a Tuscany that has been sitting at a Houston storage facility?
Yes. Lisa RV Buyers can consider a Tuscany at a storage facility within the Greater Houston service area and arrange pickup there. Tell us how long it has been stored, whether the engine starts and which systems you have recently tested. Include photos of leaks or other damage instead of describing untested equipment as working.
