An Imagine 2800BH with double-size bunks serves a different buyer than a 2670MK with a desk and kitchen island. Those differences matter when figuring out what your Grand Design Imagine is worth. Start by identifying the trailer you actually own—not borrowing a price from another Imagine with different slides, equipment or sleeping arrangements.
What's my Grand Design Imagine worth beyond a guide number?
Your Imagine needs a model-specific comparison and a condition review before anyone can give you a meaningful purchase figure. This page offers comparison guidance, not an appraisal. A roof leak, unfinished recall repair or different air-conditioning setup can separate two trailers that look similar in an advertisement.
Use J.D. Power's RV guide to find the matching year and floor plan, then read the value category rather than treating every displayed number as resale proceeds. Suggested list price, low retail and average retail describe different benchmarks; none is an offer to buy your trailer.
A cash buyer evaluates the Imagine in front of them, including needed repairs and whether it is ready to move. An advertised dealer price is another comparison point, but it does not prove what a buyer paid. Our guide to RV worth explains those broader pricing differences.
How do Imagine model years and generations compare?
Imagine has documented model years from 2016 onward and remains in production, but brochure eras are more useful than invented generation labels. It is Grand Design's lightweight, fiberglass-sided travel-trailer line. Match the title and VIN information to the floor plan code, then use the corresponding brochure to identify original equipment.
| Years or dated snapshot | What changed or was documented |
|---|---|
| 2016 brochure | Listed 2150RB, 2600RB, 2800BH, 2950RL and 3150BH; fiberglass exterior, laminated aluminum-framed walls and main floor, wood-framed roof, solar inlet and power tongue jack. |
| 2019 brochure | Expanded choices included 2500RL, 2670MK, 2970RL and 3170BH; standard Imagine had a 15,000-BTU ducted main AC, with second-AC availability and 50-amp service on specified larger layouts. |
| June 2026 announced refresh | Updated cabinetry, flooring, backsplash, bathroom mirrors and upholstery; standard Imagine updates included power stabilizers, composite entry steps, solid-surface countertops and integrated cassette windows. |
These are equipment snapshots, not official generation names. Do not assume a particular trailer received the refresh solely because of its model year; check the installed features and purchase documents.
Imagine XLS and Imagine AIM are separate related segments. Their weights and equipment should not stand in for standard Imagine specifications. The Grand Design brand page provides broader buying information, while Grand Design Transcend values belong to a different comparison.

Which Imagine layout matches your likely buyer?
The floor plan determines how an Imagine can serve its next owner, so describe its usable spaces rather than just its sleeping capacity. These three layouts illustrate the differences; they are not a sales ranking.
The 2800BH has double-size bunks, one slide and two entry/exit doors. It appeared in the 2016 brochure; the November 2026 manufacturer table gives it a 32-foot length. Its bunk arrangement is relevant to families looking for separate sleeping spaces.
The 2670MK combines two slides, a desk, kitchen island and front queen bedroom. Its published length in that table is 32 feet 3 inches. Buyers who want a work surface and more kitchen space may compare it differently from a bunkhouse.
The 2970RL has two slides, a queen bed and theater seating, with a published length of 34 feet 2 inches. The 2019 brochure made theater seating and a fireplace mandatory equipment for that layout. Photograph those features so a comparison reflects the actual interior.
How do Imagine weights and hitch requirements affect resale?
An Imagine's loaded weight and hitch demands limit which buyers can safely tow it. It uses a conventional ball coupler and a tow-vehicle frame-mounted hitch, not a fifth-wheel hitch. The owner's manual recommends a customer-supplied weight-distributing system and sway control.
The 2016 brochure listed lengths of 26 feet 9 inches to 35 feet 11 inches, dry weights of 4,945–7,425 pounds and GVWR of 6,695–8,995 pounds. The separate November 2026 standard Imagine table lists 26 feet 6 inches to 36 feet 11 inches, dry weights of 6,218–8,725 pounds and GVWR of 7,850–10,195 pounds. Neither snapshot represents loaded towing weight.
Photograph your weight label and coupler markings. The September 2025 manual says the required ball may be 2 inches or 2-5/16 inches, depending on floor plan, and gives an approximate loaded tongue-weight target of 10–15% of loaded trailer weight. Truck or SUV compatibility requires checking capacities, not relying on the Imagine's lightweight description.
What strengthens or weakens an Imagine offer?
Accurate equipment details and evidence of sound condition help separate your Imagine from an incomplete comparison. Current equipment cannot be assumed to exist on an older trailer.
Details that support value
- Matching year and floor plan documentation, with clear interior photos.
- Working AC equipment and confirmed electrical service, especially a documented second AC and 50-amp setup where fitted.
- Installed solar details: an early solar inlet is not the same as the current listed 200-watt panel and 30-amp controller.
- Roof inspections, resealing receipts and a dry, firm floor.
- Records identifying completed recalls and the components repaired.
- Confirmed refresh features rather than an assumed equipment package.
Conditions that can reduce value
- Leaks, soft flooring, moisture damage or neglected exterior seals; the Imagine manual warns that missed resealing can cause serious water damage.
- Unresolved VIN-applicable safety recalls affecting propane, slides, wiring, the tongue jack, axle bearings or awning.
- A slide or jack problem that interferes with preparing the trailer for transport.
- Missing equipment, nonworking appliances or upgrades described without supporting details.
- An apparent mismatch between the advertised floor plan and the ownership documents.
MORryde CRE-3000 suspension and anti-lock braking appear in current manufacturer equipment information. Verify what your used Imagine actually has before listing either as a feature.
Which Imagine recalls need a VIN check?
Several recalls cover certain Imagine trailers, but the year alone does not establish that yours is affected. Enter your VIN in the NHTSA recall search and retain repair paperwork tied to that VIN.
- 21V393000: Certain 2016–2021 trailers had LP regulators that could allow excessive propane pressure and increase fire risk; the remedy replaces the regulator.
- 17V271000: Certain 2017–2018 trailers had slide securing screws that could shear, allowing extension during towing; replacement screws are the remedy.
- 17V620000: Certain 2017–2018 trailers had AC wiring connections that could detach and short; the remedy adds positive-retention connectors.
- 17V789000: Certain 2017–2018 Smart-Jack-equipped trailers had touchpads that could admit water and trigger unintended movement; the jack is replaced.
- 21V636000: Certain 2021 trailers fitted with affected Dexter D30 axles could have incorrect inner bearings; inspection and bearing replacement address the defect.
- 22V603000: Certain 2022–2023 trailers had awning fabric seams that could separate; inspection and repair or replacement are prescribed.
A separate recall covered sharp cabinet-door and drawer pulls on certain 2020–2021 trailers. Keep completion invoices rather than relying on a seller's memory or assuming this list is exhaustive.
Why does Gulf Coast storage matter for an Imagine?
Houston-area heat and humidity make moisture control and roof maintenance relevant to an Imagine's condition. The historical brochures describe laminated aluminum-framed walls and floors but a wood-framed main roof. Aluminum wall framing does not make the entire trailer immune to water damage.
The heated, enclosed underbelly also does not eliminate indoor humidity. The Imagine manual recommends exhaust ventilation during cooking and bathing, AC use to reduce humidity, and a dehumidifier in extremely humid conditions. For storage, it advises regular sealant checks, prompt spill cleanup and keeping damp items out. Photos around roof penetrations, slide edges and floor corners help show how the trailer has held up.
How can you get an offer for your specific Imagine?
Text enough information to distinguish your Imagine from other trailers with the same name. Lisa RV Buyers considers both current and older Imagine model years, including trailers with wear or damage; a severely deteriorated unit may bring a modest offer.
Send the year, floor plan code, VIN and photos of the exterior, roof, floors, interior equipment and every damaged area. Add recall invoices and identify the AC, solar and electrical setup. Use the offer request page for details, or call or text 936-234-4278.
There is no cost or obligation for an offer. Your information and pictures support the preliminary amount; an in-person review establishes the purchase figure. We visit the trailer and coordinate pickup throughout Greater Houston, so you do not have to deliver it. Our travel trailer buying page covers this purchase category.
Grand Design Imagine value: owner questions
Can I use an Imagine XLS price for my standard Imagine?
No. Imagine XLS is a separately specified, lighter segment, and Imagine AIM is separate as well. A standard Imagine comparison should match its own year, floor plan and equipment. Check your title, identification labels and brochure before selecting a guide entry; similar branding does not mean the trailers have matching weights, layouts or resale benchmarks.
How should I research a 2018 Grand Design Imagine value?
Identify the floor plan first, then look up that specific 2018 entry in an RV price guide. Compare installed equipment and actual condition before treating the result as useful. Certain 2017–2018 Imagine trailers were included in slide, AC wiring and Smart-Jack recalls, so VIN-specific repair records are also relevant to evaluating your trailer.
Does a 2022 Grand Design Imagine value depend on the awning recall?
An unresolved recall can matter to the condition assessment, but not every 2022 Imagine is affected. Campaign 22V603000 covers certain 2022–2023 trailers with an awning fabric seam that may separate. Check the trailer's VIN and keep any inspection, repair or replacement invoice so a buyer can distinguish a completed remedy from unfinished work.
Does adding solar automatically raise my Imagine's cash offer?
Solar does not establish a fixed increase in an Imagine offer. Describe what is installed and working, including the panel, controller and supporting paperwork. Early Imagine brochures listed a solar power inlet, while current equipment information lists a 200-watt roof panel and 30-amp controller. Preparation alone should not be presented as an installed solar system.
Can I sell an Imagine with an outstanding loan?
Lisa RV Buyers can handle the lender payoff as part of closing on your Imagine. You receive any equity left after the payoff, and payment occurs when the documents are signed, before the trailer departs. If the balance exceeds the offer, you must cover that shortage before ownership can transfer. Have your lender and loan details available.
