A Catalina 184BHS with a folding Murphy bed serves a different buyer than a 323BHDSCK with a separate bunkroom and outside kitchen. That difference matters when you ask what your Coachmen Catalina is worth: the name alone does not identify the trailer. This guide covers conventional Catalina travel trailers, not the fifth wheels, motorhomes, toy haulers or destination trailers carrying that name. For the broader brand, see our Coachmen RV buying page.
Which Coachmen Catalina model years and generations matter?
The useful comparison points are dated Catalina lineups, not assumed generation boundaries. Catalina appears in a 1995 manufacturer brochure and remains an active travel-trailer line, with Legacy Edition and Summit Series 7 advertised for 2027.
| Years | What changed |
|---|---|
| 1995 | The brochure includes conventional trailers such as 298FK, 299TB, 311FKS, 338FLS and 364TBS, plus a separate fifth-wheel lineup. |
| 2016 | J.D. Power lists the Catalina Series M-343 QBDS under Coachmen by Forest River, with model-specific pricing information. |
| 2022 | The product guide separates Legacy Edition, Summit Series 8 and Summit Series 7 from Expedition, Trail Blazer and Destination offerings. Legacy flooring is listed as 5/8-inch tongue-and-groove plywood. |
| 2027 | The advertised Legacy Edition and Summit Series 7 remain conventional travel-trailer choices. Legacy lists 1/2-inch Supersede composite floor decking. |
These dates do not establish the first Catalina year or the exact year flooring changed. Coachmen became a Forest River brand in December 2008, so older paperwork may show a different builder name.
Photograph the VIN plate and model label, then compare them with your title and the brochure for that year. Keep the full floor-plan code, including its letters; a similar-looking code is not enough for a reliable comparison.
Which Catalina layouts suit families or couples?
Catalina bunkhouses serve families, while rear-bath and rear-kitchen layouts offer different living space for couples. Match those features before comparing asking prices.
The 2022 Legacy 243RBS has a private front bedroom, a dinette-and-sofa slide and a large rear bathroom. The 303RKDS instead puts the kitchen at the rear, with generous counter space, two recliners and a bedroom closet prepared for a washer/dryer.
For family use, the 263BHSCK has double-over-double bunks and a standard outside camp kitchen. The 293QBCK adds a quad-bunkhouse arrangement and sleeping capacity up to ten. The 323BHDSCK provides a separate bunkroom and an outside kitchen with a griddle, refrigerator and sink.
The compact 2022 Summit Series 7 184BHS combines bunks, a dinette slide and a front Murphy bed. Its camp kitchen was optional, so confirm it is actually installed. Do not replace its code with the later 184BHSX when searching. Historical 1995 choices include the front-kitchen 298FK and rear-bunk 299TB; those deserve comparisons with their own era, not modern Legacy trailers.

How does Catalina weight limit the buyer pool?
A Catalina's loaded weight and tongue weight help determine which buyers can tow it safely. These conventional trailers use a front tongue hitch, not a fifth-wheel connection.
For the published 2022 Legacy and Summit Series 7/8 conventional layouts, lengths span 20 feet 6 inches to 38 feet 6 inches. Unloaded vehicle weight runs from 3,350 to 8,628 pounds, with gross vehicle weight ratings from 4,300 to 10,800 pounds. Those figures are not specifications for every Catalina year.
Summit Series 7 is 90 inches wide; the 2022 Summit Series 8 and Legacy trailers are 96 inches wide. Coachmen positions current Summit models for smaller SUVs and compact pickups and describes several Legacy layouts as largely half-ton towable. Neither statement approves a particular vehicle. Use the actual trailer labels and hitch-weight information alongside the tow vehicle's ratings and payload allowance.
Document tire condition, brake operation and tongue-jack function. A floor plan may fit someone's camping needs but still exceed what their vehicle can carry or pull.
How do I find what my Coachmen Catalina is worth?
Find the matching year and full model designation in a pricing guide, then compare its retail category with the offer you can actually accept. Our RV values by model directory helps keep comparisons within the right product line.
As a specific example, J.D. Power's RV guide showed the 2016 Coachmen by Forest River Catalina Series M-343 QBDS at a suggested list price of $27,434, base low retail of $8,350 and base average retail of $10,050, accessed November 5, 2026. Options were shown as N/A. Those figures apply to that listing, not every 2016 Catalina.
Original MSRP describes a new-trailer price reference. Published retail values and a direct purchase offer describe different transactions; repairs, equipment, towing condition and the exact layout can change the comparison. This page provides buying context, not an appraisal. For broader pricing terms, read how RV worth is estimated.
What raises or reduces a Catalina's value?
A correctly identified Catalina with working equipment and a clear repair history is easier to assess than one with uncertain specifications or hidden damage. No option carries a fixed resale premium across the whole line.
What supports value:
- A confirmed subline and floor-plan code, with labels supporting the identification.
- Slides, appliances and awning that operate as intended.
- Photos and receipts documenting roof care and flooring repairs.
- Verified outside-kitchen, solar or leveling equipment rather than assumed brochure options.
- Recall-completion paperwork tied to the trailer's VIN.
What can lower an offer or require closer checking:
- Active roof leaks, soft areas underfoot or visible moisture damage.
- Inoperative slides, appliances or installed leveling equipment.
- Tires, brakes or hitch equipment needing attention before towing.
- Unresolved safety recalls affecting that VIN.
- Plumbing or tank-monitor faults: one 2025 Catalina 134-series owner reported miswired black-tank sensors and a warranty fix. Separately, a 134RDX owner reported a small water-heater hose drip in April 2026, without a stated model year or confirmed repair outcome.
Those owner reports are individual experiences, not proof that every Catalina has those faults. For any repair, retain the invoice, work description and photos showing the affected area.
Which Catalina recalls should I check?
Check your own Catalina VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup, because a matching model year alone does not establish coverage.
Campaign 24V-094 covered certain 2024 313RLTSLE trailers. A chassis change placed slide components too close to the driver's rear tire, creating possible tire contact, failure and crash risk.
Campaign 25V-111 covered certain 2017–2020 and 2024–2025 Catalinas whose federal placard could show a GVWR above the safety-chain rating. The dealer notice specifies replacement placards.
Campaign 25V-264 covered certain 2024–2025 Catalina trailers with incorrect or missing 12-volt over-current protection involving front accent lamps, awning wiring or automatic leveling wiring. The concern is fire risk. Save the dealer's completion record rather than relying only on a statement that the work was done.
How does Gulf Coast storage affect a Catalina inspection?
Houston-area heat and humidity make cooling performance and signs of moisture useful inspection details, but the inspection must follow your Catalina's actual construction. A 1995 trailer and a current Legacy do not share every roof or floor specification.
The 1995 brochure lists aluminum roofs, with rubber roofs standard on 338FLS and 364TBS and optional elsewhere. Current Legacy and Summit Series 7 list a crowned roof with an Alpha membrane. Identify yours before describing roof maintenance.
Photograph roof edges, seals and interior areas beneath any past leak. Explain where the trailer was stored and provide repair receipts. For flooring, distinguish 2022 Legacy plywood from current Legacy composite decking; newer material does not erase the need to inspect for damage. Also record installed A/C and ventilation equipment and demonstrate operation rather than assuming equipment from a current brochure.
What details help us price your particular Catalina?
Send identification details and condition photos so we can assess your Catalina rather than a generic trailer. Lisa RV Buyers purchases both current and older Catalina model years among the travel trailers we buy.
Call or text 936-234-4278 with the year, subline, floor-plan code and VIN. Include exterior views, roof photos taken safely, floor areas and close-ups of damage, along with equipment and repair notes. Our get-an-offer page provides the contact details.
There is no fee or commitment for an offer. We use your information and pictures for the first figure, then check the trailer in person before settling the amount. We also arrange collection from its Greater Houston location, so you do not have to bring the Catalina to us.
Coachmen Catalina value: owner questions
Where can I find a 1997 Coachmen Catalina value?
Begin with the title, VIN plate and complete model designation on your 1997 Catalina. Search a pricing guide for that exact entry rather than using a 1995 brochure layout or a newer Legacy as a substitute. If you cannot confidently identify the floor plan, photograph the labels before requesting an offer.
Can I use a 2014 Coachmen Catalina value to price my 2016 trailer?
A 2014 comparison may provide context, but it does not establish the price of your 2016 Catalina. The layout, subline, equipment and present condition still need to match. J.D. Power's published 2016 M-343 QBDS example applies to that specific model listing, not every Catalina built in either year.
Is a Coachmen Catalina blue book value the amount a buyer will pay?
A published guide figure is not a purchase commitment. Make sure you know whether the number represents original list price, low retail or average retail. A buyer also considers the actual Catalina's repairs, installed equipment and towing readiness. Compare the guide entry with a real offer for your identified trailer.
Can I sell my Coachmen Catalina if its roof has leaked?
Lisa RV Buyers considers Catalinas with roof leaks or water damage, including older trailers. Describe the affected rooms and floor areas, and send pictures of both damage and completed repairs. Condition affects the offer, and a heavily damaged trailer may bring a low amount. Repair receipts help explain what work was actually completed.
Does composite flooring automatically make a newer Catalina worth more?
No fixed resale premium applies just because a Catalina has composite decking. Current Legacy specifications list Supersede composite flooring, while the 2022 Legacy brochure lists plywood. Confirm the construction of your own trailer, then evaluate its condition, floor plan and equipment. Do not assume the current specification applies to an earlier model.
