A rear-kitchen 390RK and a middle-room 388MBS serve different buyers, even with the same Solitude name on the front cap. The chassis and suspension changes documented for 2026 add another distinction. To work out what your Grand Design Solitude is worth, start with the exact trailer—not just its brand or length.
Lisa RV Buyers buys current and older Solitude model years from owners across Greater Houston. This page helps you organize the details that matter to a buyer; it does not replace an appraisal.
How do you find out what your Grand Design Solitude is worth?
Match your trailer to a book-guide entry, then compare that reference with an offer to purchase your actual Solitude. Select the correct year, floor plan and series in J.D. Power’s RV pricing lookup, accounting for equipment without counting standard features again as options.
A guide cannot inspect soft flooring, confirm slide operation or see an axle repair. A cash buyer considers those details along with the layout and likely repair work. An advertised Grand Design Solitude price is a seller’s asking amount, not proof of what another owner received.
Keep comparisons narrow: a full-size Solitude and an S-Class should not automatically share the same benchmark. For a broader explanation of pricing references, see how RV asking prices and value estimates differ.
Which Solitude model years and equipment eras matter?
The useful dividing points are documented lineup and hardware changes, rather than assumed generation boundaries. Solitude entered production in 2013 as Grand Design’s first product in the luxury, extended-stay fifth-wheel segment and remains in production.
| Years | What changed |
|---|---|
| 2013 launch / 2014 example | The line launched in 2013. The documented 2014 M-369RL measured 38 feet 11 inches and had three slides, a 12,650-pound base weight and a 2,600-pound hitch weight. |
| 2022 lineup | The brochure separated full-size Solitude from S-Class. Full-size models used a MORryde rubber pin box, with several optional equipment packages. |
| 2026 equipment | Grand Design identifies the reinforced Lippert Omega frame and standard MORryde independent suspension for these models. |
| 2027 announced redesign | The introduction describes new interiors and floor plans, including 320RK and rear-office 394RO, plus an Omega frame, composite roof, independent suspension and disc brakes. |
Use the title, VIN plate and year-specific brochure to establish your trailer’s identity. These milestones are not manufacturer-defined generations, and the 2027 announcement does not establish when every layout reaches buyers. The Grand Design buying page covers the brand beyond Solitude.

How does a Solitude floor plan change buyer interest?
Layout changes who can use the trailer comfortably, so matching the floor plan matters as much as matching the year. These are distinct examples, not a ranking by sales volume:
- 310GK: Rear living, a kitchen island and tri-fold sofa, with three slides and sleeping capacity of four.
- 380FL: Front living, a kitchen island and bath-and-a-half, with five slides and sleeping capacity of six.
- 390RK: A raised rear kitchen, five slides and double tri-fold sofas, with sleeping capacity of six.
- 388MBS: A middle room combined with rear living, four slides and a bunkroom television.
- 394RO: Announced for 2027 with a rear office, adjustable electric desk, residential bathtub and rear storage tray; it is not an older used-market layout.
A middle room may suit someone needing separate sleeping space, while a rear-kitchen buyer may prioritize cooking and living areas. Length also matters: the 2022 full-size lineup stretched from the 32-foot-7-inch 280RK to 41-foot-5-inch layouts including 380FL and 390RK.
Can the buyer’s truck handle your Solitude?
Truck payload, loaded pin weight, hitch capacity and towing limits determine which buyers can safely move your Solitude. This is a towable fifth wheel with a pin-box connection, not a motorhome or bumper-pull trailer.
The 2022 310GK lists a 2,350-pound hitch weight and 15,000-pound GVWR. The 2022 380FL lists a 3,052-pound hitch weight and 16,800-pound GVWR. Those brochure figures do not replace loaded weights or checking the particular truck and hitch.
A larger layout can narrow the pool of owners whose equipment fits. Photograph the weight labels and identify any axle, brake, pin-box or suspension changes. Do not assume an older Solitude has the 2026 independent suspension. Our fifth-wheel and travel-trailer comparison explains the different hitch arrangements.
What supports a stronger Solitude offer, and what pulls it down?
Verified equipment and sound condition strengthen the case for your trailer; unresolved damage or uncertain repairs weaken it. Options do not carry a fixed resale premium, and newer hardware does not automatically make every newer unit worth more.
Details that can support value:
- Proof of installed upgrades, such as the 2022 optional 8,000-pound axles with disc brakes, full-body paint, dual-pane windows or solar equipment.
- Working air conditioners, refrigerator, slides, leveling equipment and any installed washer/dryer.
- Clear identification of factory Omega-frame and independent-suspension equipment on a 2026 unit.
- Repair invoices, recall-completion records and photographs showing dry, solid interior surfaces.
Details that can reduce an offer:
- Roof or plumbing leaks, damaged floors, or evidence of moisture in laminated walls.
- Slides, cooling systems or leveling equipment that cannot be demonstrated.
- Unresolved refrigerator, step or axle recall work applicable to the VIN.
- Unexplained frame or sidewall repairs, damaged running gear or incomplete service records.
The RV values by model directory provides other model guides, but a different fifth wheel’s equipment should not be used to fill in missing Solitude details.
Which recall campaigns deserve a VIN check?
Refrigerator fire risks, step-tread support and axle attachment are relevant recall subjects for certain Solitude years. Check the trailer’s VIN through NHTSA’s recall search; a model-year match alone does not confirm coverage or completed repairs.
- 20V523000, certain 2017–2021 trailers: An LP line near the refrigerator burner could be damaged and leak. The remedy includes inspection, replacement if damaged, a thermal barrier and securing the line.
- 22V038000, certain 2013–2021 vehicles: A loose 110-volt wire in the refrigerator cabinet could touch the cooling unit, causing arcing and fire. The repair addresses damaged wiring and its securement.
- 25V061000, certain 2019–2024 fifth wheels: Unsupported step-tread joints could break. The remedy adds a reinforcing metal bracket.
- 26V044000, certain 2022–2024 fifth wheels: Axle U-bolts can lose preload, allowing axle movement. Replacement of axle attachment components is the remedy.
Campaign 26V044000 supersedes 23V490000 and 24V193000. Follow the current VIN-specific instructions even if you have an invoice for an earlier axle campaign. These recall remedies are provided without charge under the campaigns.
How should you document Solitude frame and water repairs?
Keep the repair scope, invoice and before-and-after photos together so a buyer can evaluate what happened. One 2022 Solitude owner reported a frame-flex repair involving larger fasteners and use of all mounting holes; that individual account does not establish a universal structural defect.
The same owner reported shower-track leakage attributed to caulking, a leaking black-water valve, detached slide trim, a bent axle spindle and a furnace motor replacement. Treat these as inspection leads, not predictions about every Solitude.
For your trailer, identify the affected location, repair date and work performed. A label such as “frame repaired” says much less than an itemized invoice and photos of the finished area.
What does Gulf Coast storage mean for a Solitude inspection?
Houston-area heat and humidity make actual cooling performance, seal condition and moisture evidence worth checking closely. The 2022 construction includes a 101-inch-wide body, laminated aluminum-framed walls and a drop-frame chassis, but those features do not make water intrusion harmless.
The brochure describes roof insulation and a vented attic intended to release condensation. Its climate-testing note excludes humidity, wind and altitude, so chamber testing should not substitute for examining a trailer stored near the Gulf Coast.
Check roof penetrations, window seals, slide areas and shower tracks. Verify which A/C units are installed and working. Older TPO roof descriptions and newer composite-roof equipment should not be blended together; identify your unit’s roof before describing it to a buyer.
What belongs in your Solitude offer packet?
A useful packet identifies the exact Solitude and shows its condition beyond polished exterior photos. Include the year, floor plan code, Solitude or S-Class designation, VIN and current location, plus exterior, roof, floor and damage photos. Add equipment-label pictures and repair records when available.
Lisa RV Buyers purchases fifth wheels directly from owners, rather than marketing them on consignment. Call or text 936-234-4278 with your details; the offer request page explains what to prepare. Requesting an offer costs nothing and does not commit you to selling.
The first figure comes from your description and pictures, with the amount checked against the trailer in person. We travel to the Solitude and coordinate its collection across Greater Houston, including Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend, Brazoria and Galveston counties and nearby areas, so delivery is not your responsibility.
Grand Design Solitude value: owner questions
Can I use a 2021 Grand Design Solitude value for a 2022 trailer?
A 2021 comparison can provide context, but it should not stand in for the correct 2022 entry. Match the floor plan, full-size Solitude or S-Class designation, equipment and condition. Even trailers one year apart can have different installed options and repair histories, which a year-only comparison will miss.
Is a Grand Design Solitude blue book value the amount a buyer will pay?
No. A book-guide number is a pricing reference for the selected trailer and assumptions, not an agreement to buy your Solitude. A buyer must account for its actual equipment, working systems, damage and repair needs. Keep dealer advertisements separate too: an asking price does not establish a completed sale.
Does a used Solitude still have a transferable factory warranty?
For model year 2020 and newer, Grand Design states that its one-year limited base, three-year limited structural and five-year limited frame warranties transfer within their original warranty periods. Do not assume coverage remains just because the trailer qualifies by year. Confirm remaining eligibility and terms with Grand Design for the specific unit.
Does every Solitude have a composite roof?
No blanket assumption is safe. An official 390RK equipment description lists TPO covering, while newer Solitude descriptions advertise a composite roof and the 2027 announcement specifies it. Check your trailer’s build information and roof documentation. A newer product description does not prove that an older used Solitude has the same material.
Should I describe my Solitude as fully equipped if it has generator prep?
Describe generator preparation separately from an installed generator. The 2022 brochure lists generator prep among available options, but preparation does not establish that a generator is present or working. Apply the same care to washer/dryer and additional A/C preparation: identify the equipment actually installed, photograph it and explain whether you can demonstrate operation.
